Simply Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookies

2/3 c butter, softened
3/4 c sugar
1 tbsp + 1 tsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
2 c all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt

Cream butter, sugar, milk and vanilla in large bowl at medium speed until well blended. Beat in egg.
Combine dry ingredients in medium bowl. Gradually mix into butter mixture.
Cover and refrigerate. 2 hours or overnight.
Heat oven to 375*F

For cut out cookies:
On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8″ thickness and use cutters in shapes as desired. Baking for 7-9 minutes.

Once cool, decorate with royal icing as shown above or buttercream, a classic fave.

Or, don’t cut:
Shape dough into 1 1/2″ balls, flatten slightly, baking 8-10 min.

Or…make Spice Doodles
2-3 Tbsp sugar
1 – 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Stir to mix.

Roll dough into balls, roll in mixture to coat. Place on cookie sheet, bake 8-10 min. Cool slightly on pan, then remove to wire rack.

You can also do this with cinnamon and sugar. Or use colored sugar (mixing half colored with half white)
