Blondies

Now this may seem like a contradiction of terms, but, here you can get your brownie fix, but without the chocolate.   I know, I know…without chocolate?  Why would you want to do such a thing? No chocolate..pshaw!  But really, these are scrumptious!

1/2 butter (oh please don’t use margarine, blech)

1 Tbsp milk

1 c firmly packed light brown sugar

1 egg

1 c unbleached flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/8 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla

Preheat oven to 350* F.  Prepare 8x8x2 inch pan.  (grease, butter, spray, whichever)

Combine butter and milk in a large saucepan over low heat.  Stir and heat until butter melts.  Then remove from heat and stir in brown sugar.  Add egg and stir until well blended.

In a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt.  Stir this into the sugar mixture.  Stir in the vanilla. Now spread it into your baking dish.

Bake at 350*F for 27-30 minutes.  Until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.  Cool in pan then cut into squares.

Yum!  Rich, buttery, non-chocolatey goodness!

    My Grandma used to make them (only she called them Teddy Bear brownies….I have no clue why???)
