Cheddar Biscuits

You love Red Lobsters biscuits don’t you?  Well, this comes pretty darn close.

1/4 c butter, softened

1 tsp sugar

1 c unbleached flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp parsley flakes

1 egg

1/3 c milk

1 1/2 – 2 c grated cheese

 Preheat oven to 400*F

Prepare muffin tin.  Please don’t use the liners.  It’s just not right. 😉

Cream butter and sugar.

In another bowl mix dry ingredients: flour down to parsley flakes.

Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.

Blend in egg and milk.  Then add your cheese.  If you like a bit of stringy cheese (cheesy string?), go ahead with the 2 cups.  Otherwise, 1 1/2 cups will be sufficient.  I like the extra cheese in mine.

Divide into greased muffin pan.

Bake at 400*F for about 20 minutes.  Tops will be golden.  Toothpick inserted in the center will come out clean.

Yield: 1 dozen standard size muffins

  1. Ok, so I eyed this recipe, and I’m wondering, do you think these would be good to take to an ornament party? I’m supposed to bring appetizer/finger food. These would be sufficient don’t ya think?

  2. Sounds good to me. Bread of any kind is a perfect ‘appetizer’ is it not?

  3. Just finished my first batch – yummy!! Thanks for sharing, T 🙂
